BISY BACKSON
I’ve been busy…
Knitting scarves, socks, a cowl, a skirt(!), and of course plenty of monkeys. (I feel guilty about the current monkey in progress though — he’s been waiting a week and a half for his arms and ears to be attached!)
Working and feeling stressed out.
Trying my best to help the economy by buying [...]
Rhinebeck Recap
After reading so many of these over the years, I can’t believe I’m writing one! After an exhausting Saturday in Boston, my friend Brie and I hopped into my red rental Ford Focus early Sunday morning and headed to Rhinebeck, NY. Despite our late start, we arrived only half an hour after our [...]
Birthday, Baby, and a Laugh
After my lazy Saturday morning, I had quite a busy and exciting weekend! First, I celebrated my 30th birthday a couple weeks early at my “Good-Bye Twenties” party Saturday night, which had a fun 1920s theme and gave me an excuse to wear my favorite dress.
Sunday afternoon, I went to visit my best friend [...]
Excuses
I owe you posts about and pictures of many new projects, but you aren’t getting them now. I can, however, provide a few excuses:
Shorter days make photography more difficult.
Many are gifts or might become gifts.
I’m about to get on a plane to cross the country for the first [...]
Book and Coffee
Crazy Aunt Purl had her first stop on her little book tour in L.A. on Thursday night, and I braved traffic to the Grove to see her read and answer some questions.
I’ll save my (full) rant about people who selfishly bring young kids to events where the kids will be bored and disrupt the [...]
Bags, Pins, and a Doula
I have a few cool recommendations I’d like to share.
It’s no secret that I like bags – purses, totebags, backpacks, duffel bags, and also (especially) smaller bags to put in those bags. I credit/blame my mom for the idea/habit/obsession. My boyfriend affectionately makes fun of me for the bag in a bag in [...]
Half Off Lorna’s Laces
…and Malabrigo and some Debbie Bliss and basically everything left in stock over at Knit2Purl2. The Lorna’s Laces Shepherd Sock was what did me in though – there were so many colorways I wanted, I had to pass up Malabrigo and Lion & Lamb to keep my order within $10 of my original limit.

8 Facts and a Question
A while back, Kate tagged me for the random facts meme. I’m finally getting around to posting mine, but I’m going to be a spoilsport by not tagging 8 more people. If you haven’t participated and want to, feel free to tag yourself in the comments!
8 Random Facts:

“What’s Your Favorite” Answer
In thinking up my answer to the “What’s your favorite” question for the Girl on the Rocks contest, I realized it would make decent blog material as well….
I have lots of favorites, but I decided to go with my favorite tool that I’ve made myself – row/round counting stitch markers. (I created them before [...]
turtles
The new Knitty is out, and I was clued in when my friend N sent me a link to Sheldon. (Make sure you scroll down to the third picture.) I have two turtles, Sheldon and Rudy. (I used to have three, but Gertrude passed away a few years ago.) Oddly enough, [...]
