purple poncho
I almost forgot! I now have a picture to post of Gina in her poncho!
I know you can’t see the shape of the poncho very well, but the other one (full, hands on hips) didn’t look as cool.
yum.
Tonight as I was sitting down to a huge bowl of garlic-sausage-tomato rigatoni, a glass of red wine, and a chunk of parmesan cheese in the grater, I suddenly remembered the Knitting Bloggers Cookbook I came across a while back and promptly forgot about. I remembered just in time, as the deadline is today! [...]
Hermione hat!
Look!
A few things I learned while making this hat:
1. I don’t like doing cables across more than 4 stitches. Ouch.
2. Imperfect bobbles are ok. (Right?)
3. I should trust my instincts in adjusting patterns. I reduced the ribbing part by 8 rows, which I think was just about right.
4. I like making lists [...]
comments
Today I got my first bunch of comment spam. I feel like I’m now really part of this blogging world.
Speaking of comments, I’ve realized I really enjoy getting them (minus the spam, of course). I’ve never been much of a commenter on other people’s sites, always thinking that they wouldn’t care about a [...]
les détails
(One of the side benefits of knitting Clapotis is the excuse to use French.)
Thanks to Alison’s comment on my previous post, I realized that my Clapotis experiences could help others. (I really should’ve known this all along; when my doubts started, I looked at all the completed and in progress Clapotis I could find.) [...]
les doutes
So… I finished Clapotis #1. But I’m not posting any pictures because I’ve seen people’s reactions when I’ve ripped back a few inches of something small and don’t want to risk the magnitude of cringing that might come from what I’m considering doing with it. It’s beautiful and I love it, but the [...]
cascading!
Today my HelloKnitty order of Cascade 220 arrived. It’s all destined to become hats and handwarmers, though not all with particular recipients or patterns yet.
Clapotis continues. Now that the rows are at their maximum it’s gotten a little more tiring, but I’ve dropped four columns of stitches! Here is its current state:
I’m [...]
j’aime le clapotis
It must be a combination of the pattern (I’m looking forward to dropping my first set of stitches) and the yarn (it’s fun to see how the colors distribute themselves, sometimes in little (or big) pools and sometimes as stripes) that is making this such a fun project. I stayed up later than I [...]
yarn!
My Inspirations Yarn arrived today! It is so soft and beautiful and exciting! From left to right: Outdoorsman, Casual Grey, Casual Friday, and the cool Mystery Kit #1 colorway.
I was expecting more reddish and less pinkish in the Casual Friday, but I think it will still make an excellent Clapotis. And [...]
autumn
The server move went smoothly. I still have a lot of work to do on the site, but the knitting part is all set (thanks to the beauty of WordPress). You can even access it via knit.liquidgirl.org . Yay.
The air outside is crisp and cool. I’ve put some yummy candles into [...]
