knitting thanks
One of the things I am thankful for is knitting. There are many non-knitting things I’m thankful for, but since this is a knitting blog I thought I’d make a list of some of the knitting things:
1. wool
2. circular needles
3. inox express circular needles
4. bamboo dpns
5. yummy yummy hand-painted yarns
6. dvds to watch while [...]
making a list
I just counted 22 items on my knitting to do list, 18 of which are for other people. Granted, nearly all of them are smallish projects like hats, scarves, and handwarmers/wristwarmers/glovies/not-mittens. But still. That’s a lot. Especially the 8 pairs of handwarmers, since I’m a little tired of making them at [...]
Noho scarf
I had decided I needed to work on some of my gift knitting before making more stuff for myself. And I had also determined that new handwarmers were the priority of the things I want to make myself (since I lost one of my favorite pair in Northampton). But what did I do [...]
secret and baby cables
I’m still here and still knitting, but I’m currently working on a secret project. All I can say is that there are cables. I should be done soon though, and then I’ll be continuing down the huge list of things to make.
But I do have a picture to share:
This is Alex at his [...]
le clapotis bleu
In my last post, I forgot that I had promised a picture of Clapotis in action. Here I am wearing it (and my new wool peacoat) while sitting outside the window of a candy store in Northampton. This time the cropping wasn’t out of desire for anonymity. My eyes were doing something [...]
Wool adventures in Northampton
(or “How I came home with a $30 skein of yarn”)
My four days in Northampton were bookended by yarn shops. After lunch and some downtown wandering when I arrived on Thursday afternoon, I popped into Northampton Wools and fell in love with the little store. I also made it to WEBS, where I [...]
New England
I don’t check my email for a couple days, and when I do it’s filled with comment spam. Bleh. When I get home I think I’ll have to investigate more sophisticated filtering options than a wordlist, though I think I’ve now covered all the major gambling games.
I’m having a blast in Massachusetts, but [...]
a sigh and some excitement
My thoughts and feelings today can be best summed up by this Mark Morford column.
As for the excitement part, I have less than half an hour before my airport shuttle is due to arrive. I’m really looking forward to this trip – a long weekend full of friends, writing, music, cool weather, and a [...]
finished?
I think I’ve finished Clapotis #2. Why am I not absolutely certain? It’s the length. I’ve decided that while knitting something on a diagonal is pretty cool (especially when it involves dropped stitches), it’s a pain because it makes it much harder to get an idea of how big it’s getting. [...]
Massachusetts yarn shops?
I’m about to spend five days in Massachusetts. I already know I’m going to go WEBS in Northampton (which is where I’ll be spending most of my time – Northampton, that is, not WEBS), but I want to take advantage of my travels and try to hit a few other yarn stores as well. [...]
