clapotis

I’ve made this pattern several times, and this is by far my favorite in all aspects. The knitting was very enjoyable – fingering weight wool on mid-sized needles make for optimal knitting conditions for my hands. And I’m very pleased with the finished product – the drape is fabulous, it’s nice and light, and the size is perfect! I was worried that it would be too short, but with one fewer increase repeat and a lot of weighing I was able to do the full number of straight repeats with breathing room. After blocking, it measured 11×48 inches.

Now I want to knit another! I do have more yarn that would be perfect (and plans to order more too), but for now I need to focus on sweater-knitting again. I’m quickly running out of time before my Mother’s Day deadline!

Edited to add: I’ve added a follow-up post with some additional project details for anyone interested in making a similar Clapotis, which you can find here.

Gorgeous!! Love that picture in the tree. I’ve wondered what a fingering-weight Clapotis would look like…and now I know it’s completely worth it, thanks to you!

Woohoo! More yarn buying! I am an enabler. :)

It looks great – I love the colors. And of course the tree shot :)

It’s really pretty! I’ve only knit it twice and given them both away but found the knitting to be boring. But the end results are so nice that I still thinking about knitting another one for myself.

That looks great. I’m struggling whether to make that next or a lace shawl. Decisions, decisions, decisions. Thanks for showing us your Yarn Nerd yarn knit up.

It looks awesome! Did you do the complete pattern, or did you leave out some repeats? I’d love to make this with some of the great sock yarn I have lying around, and if I can do the whole thing with just 420 yards, I might be in heaven!

Lovely, I so want to knit the Cl*p, other things keep getting pushed in front of it.
